Support The historic Flora depot

We rely on individual donors to keep the Depot open. The Depot receives no tax dollars for operating costs.

Flora’s historic B & O Railroad Depot was a restoration project of the Flora Community Development Corporation. (FCDC) Through many donations and grants, the organization was able to completely renovate the beautiful historic building. The volunteer organization relies heavily on fund raising events and donations from the public to operate and maintain the building.  The building is owned by the FCDC, which is a non profit, 501(C)3 organization. Contrary to popular belief, they receive no tax money. Maintenance and upgrades are funded by donations and fundraising events only.

DONATE TO THE FLORA DEPOT

Support our history and our future!

Being part of the National Registry of Historic places, any cosmetic improvements need to meet specific guidelines to maintain the natural beauty and originality of the building. We currently are in a fundraising effort to replace all the existing windows in the building. Unfortunately, this is an expensive undertaking that just can’t be funded by fundraising and rent income alone. We are reaching out and asking for help on this project.  Each window costs $2000.00 You have the opportunity to sponsor a window. Those that make a tax deductible contribution to our window project in the amount of $2000.00, will have a plaque placed on a window. The plaque will be engraved with who purchased the window, in memory of, in honor of, etc.  When making your donation you can let us know how the plaque should be worded for you and or your family.  A group of people can also go in together to purchase a window, and they too, will get a plaque.

You can make a donation through this website on the donate now button. Or you can mail a check made payable to FCDC and mail to 223 W. Railroad Street, Flora, IL 62839. If you would like a receipt for your donation, please let us know. If you have any questions regarding the window project, you may call 618-662-5646, or email the depot at floradepot@gmail.com.
